Sublime Smiles started as an amazing orthodontics practice. Dr. Avila seemed to have been driving the industry forward with a knowledgeable Staff and very well designed and pristine offices. Then my process was rushed. Even a worker said he was ending my treatment too soon. So, perhaps after that office remodel is very likely when he started the nickel and dime tendencies over retainers. Brand new flimsy one cracked within a week and he really tried to charge me to replace it. Started out ok, but I did not feel good about my experience in the end.

Very clean office. Doc is very professional. They have regular metal braces around 3.5K after my insurance. LightForce braces around 3.8K Invisalign is around 4.5K. If u looking for cheap price, go somewhere else. If u looking for high quality service, this is where u need to come.

Doctor Avila is the BEST!! I had actually went for a consultation appointment with him years ago but ended up not going through with the treatment at the time because I wasn’t ready. So fast forward about 3 years later, I couldn’t find where I had saved Dr.Avila’s info and ended up starting treatment with another ortho that my regular dentist had recommended. Biggest mistake of my life!! This other ortho was damaging my teeth and not only that but was also deforming the shape of face with all he was doing with my teeth and the movements. With 8 months of treatment my teeth went from bad to worse and my face shape had completely changed and not for the better. I knew I had to do something! I thought again of Dr.Avila because not only he was very nice and profesional in my first visit 3 years prior but he had also helped me clean my teeth just because he wanted to help during that visit (at no cost). So that had always stayed in my mind and gave me reassurance that Dr.Avila actually cares about his patients and even non patients which was my case at the time. So I tracked down my emails to find Dr. Avila’s info (cause mind that I couldn’t recall his name at the time lol) and finally found him!! I sent him a message extremely worried about my situation at the time and without yet being his patient, he sooo kindly responded to me with valuable guidance. I decided to end my treatment with the first ortho and started treatment with Dr. Avila. Best decision ever!!! I could already see positive improvements with my teeth from the very first few braces adjustments!! Every appointment, the shape of my teeth improved and even the structure of my face. Dr.Avila and his staff are wonderful and you can tell they care about their patients. I am very happy with the results! My teeth finally look nice and straight! I 1000% recommend Dr.Avila if you want to make sure your treatment goes smoothly and you don’t want to get ripped off by other orthos who don’t know what they’re doing. You couldn’t pay me to go to another ortho other than Dr. Avila. Thanks so much Dr.Avila and team!! I can smile again without feeling self conscious!! You are all THE BEST!!

So, these people are family to us! We absolutely LOVE them! My 7-year-old daughter has always been apprehensive of dentists from the age of two. She desperately needed Invisalign and when we came into the Kentlands office, Jadan and Jen were MORE than gentle and kind while she wiggled and cried. We truly enjoyed the office staff too and DON'T GET ME STARTED on Dr A and his wife, Amanda. I don't think I have ever met anyone more giving. How they wear shirts with hearts as big as they have, I will never know :) We will go them for Phase II also.

Having perfect teeth and a beautiful smile is just the icing on the cake because coming into the office has truly been my favorite part of my whole experience. The office is always filled with laughter and fun; every member of the Sublime Smile Family is genuine, kind, helpful and a joy to be around. Finishing my treatment was actually a sad day knowing that my time with these awesome folks has come to an end. Who knows, maybe you'll catch me volunteering here on occasion. If so, say HI! I just had my last session for retainer checkup, and all I can say is: YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!! From the beginning, the doctor and staff have been nothing but amazing, always kind and glad to see patients. I went to a different clinic prior to Sublime Smiles, and they wanted to do a jaw surgery to fix my problem; so I looked up online for a second opinion and found Sublime Smiles (super highly reviewed), so I decided to go for a consultation. It only took that session to fall in love with the place: they treated me so nice and did a 3D scan to show me the current state and how the end result will look like, and I was so happy that I signed right away. They are very understanding, professional, and can't say enough things of this great clinic. Dr. Avila is the best of the best, he saved me from going through a "needed jaw surgery", which was a problem that could be easily fixed with Invisalign treatment for 1.5 years.

We interviewed several orthodontists that were much more aggressive and suggested unnecessary multiple phases. Both of my girls go to this practice. I was told by my dentist that I may lose one of my bottom front teeth which was loose and protruding forward. Like many people, I didn't consistently wear my retainer wearing braces as a kid, so I decided to go back as an adult and get Invisalign. I went with Dr. Avila at Sublime Smiles for my adult treatment, and they gave me far superior results compared to my first go-round. I received Invisalign services from Dr. Avila and his team at primarily the Rockville office but occasionally went to the Kentlands office as well. Both locations are very clean and well run. The Rockville location is especially pretty!! This doesn't affect quality of treatment but I really appreciated the vibes. Despite going to multiple locations there were never any mix ups about appointments or deliveries being at the wrong place and everything was very smooth. I started in September 2018 and finished in January 2020. It's been over a year since I finished and while my teeth have shifted slightly despite wearing my retainer nightly I'm still happy with my results and would 100% recommend Invisalign with Dr. Avila. Notably I had a consultation at a nearby orthodontist who gave me a quote that was almost twice as much as Dr. Avila's office did. They also shamed my "very small teeth" and insisted I get caps placed on all of them to make them appear larger post treatment. Your mileage may vary depending on where you go but the choice was clear (ha!) in my case.

My invisilign took me over a year because I was traveling and couldn’t always make appointments when needed and he was more than willing to wait and accommodate my needs. He also fixed molar took I had that came in sideways that my dentist and previous orthodontist thought was irreparable and needed to be removed, now it’s perfect. From the start Dr. Avila's focus was to make sure I was happy with my program and he has been true to his word thus far. They even went out of the way to remove my brackets prior to my wedding just so we can have better pictures. The entire office staff is great!) and even though I was not officially a patient of his, Dr. Avila immediately responded to me even when I contacted him in the evenings and on the weekend. Sublime Smiles is great and clearly on the cutting edge. Allow me to explain. Sublime Smiles was not the first orthodontist I visited for braces. I attended another reputable orthodontist who was recommended by my dentist. I have worn braces many years ago and I noticed my teeth was beginning to shift again and I was no longer happy with my smile. I sought treatment options at another office however I found their process long and unnecessarily evasive. I remember it taking three separate appointments for me to get a treatment plan from this orthodontist; which included jaw surgery to expand my palette and/or removal of four teeth. total treatment length would be 24 months. Also, I explained to this other Dr. that I wanted invisalign but he advised against it. Needless to say I was disappointed. I decided to get a second opinion, which led me to Sublime smiles. first, everyone was very friendly and helpful. I took just one appointment for me to have my X-rays and impressions completed and Dr. Avila was able to present a much shorter invisalign treatment plan at lower cost. So I have always wanted straight teeth! you know like the ones that the movie stars have (minus the veneers lol) and for the past few years i have been working towards that. i knew that i would need braces due to the fact that i sucked my finger until i was 21(lol) and my wisdom teeth had caused my bottom teeth to cross. I was referred to Dr. Avila by my general dentist and so far so good. I was told that i had a limited case that would take around 14 months to complete. My insurance paid some and I paid the rest is on a payment plan. It took about 3 weeks from the time i was scanned to until i got my invisalign. **the first day** I came in very excited to get my treatment started ( i called off work, i was not sure how this would be) also i had just came from Cancun the day before. The initial appointment was 1 hour and a half. I ate before i went because i knew that it would be awhile before i ate again. I was not aware that i had to get attachments put on my teeth, so I went in thinking i would get my invisalign , they would show me how to put them on and life would go on. Boy was i wrong. step 1- The dental assistant did a mild cleaning on my teeth with something that was extremely sour step 2- attachments glued onto my teeth(feels like permanent plaque, the worst feeling ever) step 3 - invisalign placed on for the first time. After they were placed I was thinking "hey this is easy" but I remembered other reviews that I had read about the pain and my orthodontist told me the pain would kick in later and to take some Tylenol. A year later, My teeth are almost where I want them, the office is great at setting and reminding of appointments, I always go during my lunch time and I am in and out in less than an hour and anything I need, they are always there. This has been the only time in my life I have felt confident about my dental process I love it here :-)

Dr. Avila and the orthodontic staff are very professional and personable, since I started going to Sublime Smiles back in May of 2016. Each visit is to track progress and get new Invisalign trays is pleasant and all my questions are answered, which definitely made "getting braces" as an adult much less daunting. One thing that initially struck me was that during my first couple visits, I happily greeted by the orthodontic staff by my name, which initially took me back since I've rarely experienced that sort of customer service at dental or medical practices. It made me feel more comfortable and helped to confirm that I made the right decision going with Sublime Smiles. Initially, I did not know what to expect with correcting my smile, as I had a significant open bite and multiple spaces to close, but so far I have been very satisfied with the progress from my Invisalign treatment. Dr. Avila definitely surpassed my expectations...and we are not even done yet! If I knew what I know today, I would have gone to Sublime Smiles a long time ago.

From the first moment we walked into the office, I was excited. The office is so beautiful, bright and cheery. Great waiting area for parents/siblings with a tv and comfy chairs. 9 months into my son's 2 year process and we are thrilled with the results so far AND the team at Sublime Smiles. We were given contact details for Sublime Smiles by our family dentist. The initial meeting with Dr Avila and Amanda was very informative. They are a great husband and wife team making us feel at ease, answering all questions and truly interested in us. They offered a great payment plan too. Each time we come to the Rockville or Kentlands office we always feel welcome. The team is always happy and upbeat. My son is very relaxed at his appointments. Dr Avila always has time to chat and remembers details about family events we had chatted about on previous visits, while being professional and courteous. The office is fun, with staff wearing costumes for Halloween, a blackboard wishing each client happy birthday for the current month and wifi for bored sisters to use their iPads when they have to come and wait! I'm amazed at how quickly my son's teeth are correcting and can see what a great improvement has occurred (sometimes within just a few days of adjustment!). I'm awarding bonus points for them when, after seeing my 9 year old daughter at the same initial appointment, they advised we wait another year and see how things develop rather than try to put unnecessary braces on her before, and if, she needs them. I'd definitely recommend Dr Avila and the team at Sublime Smiles to our friends.

Doctor Avila and his staff are very professional, polite, and accommodating when it is possible. Dr. Avila has great communications skills and know how to talk to each customer, kids, teens and adults. I had an overbite and two of my lower teeth were a little crooked. I opted for Invisalign, which in my opinion, is preferred treatment option for adults. I have been wearing braces for almost two year, and now my treatment is almost over. My teeth are straight, but the difference with overbite before Invisalign and after is not as visible, as say with crooked teeth. But I see this treatment not only as cosmetic, but also as health related. My dentist said that correct bite helps prevent some dental issues. Moreover, I am grinding my teeth when I sleep, and the braces protect my teeth. One word of caution for any orthodontic treatment: you should not expect results overnight. It is a long process, which requires commitment not only from a doctor, but from a patient on the first place. For example, with Invisalign, you need to wear braces at least 20 hours a day (22 is better). You cannot eat or drink with them (except water). You will need to brush teeth after each meal and drink, meaning you need to carry brushing set with you everywhere. Don't make decision about Invisalign lightly, and if you started it, follow through. I will recommend Dr. Avila's office to my friends and to people who are reading this review.

I like Dr. Avila because he really helped with my teeth. He is always very kind when he comes to check out my teeth, he talks to me and treats me kindly. The workers are also very nice there, they give me any color I want no matter how many diffrent colors I choose. I also like that they have a brushing station there for when you don't brush or when you just came from somwhere, where you didn't have time to brush. My brother and I have been seeing Dr. Avila for about a year now. Luckily, he said we were both good candidates for the teen invisalign. We are a little more than halfway through our course of treatment and our teeth look are looking great. Dr. Avila always takes the time to talk to us and let us know how he thinks things are going. I decided on Dr Avila for my son's orthodontia based on a referral from our dentist. From the first visit for the initial assessment, they were welcoming and reassuring. Got great vibes from the staff first, more from Dr Avila's consultation. Treatment (aka braces) has been going on over a year now, and it's been smooth sailing (well, for me at least). The team is very accommodating schedule-wise, we rarely have to wait when we arrive for our appointment - in fact, we're in & out in 20 minutes most times, and they have those really cool paste-covered toothbrushes. Most importantly, my son is never in the kind of pain *I* was when I had braces! The only con - if you could call it that - is that I was warned about the exorbitant cost of braces so no shocker there, but Dr Avila & staff are making the process so quick & easy that I wonder what I'm paying for!!! :)
